Atole (pronounced ah-TOH-leh) is a traditional beverage in Mexican cuisine that dates back to the time of the Aztecs and Mayans. Made from masa harina, the type of corn flour that is traditionally used to make corn tortillas and full of the comforting flavors of vanilla and cinnamon, atole is a delicious warming drink perfect for winter.
It is a popular breakfast dish and is also often served as an after dinner snack. A festive drink which is traditionally drunk during the celebrations of Dia de los Muertos.
Directions (makes more than 1 litre):
Dissolve contents of pack in 1 cup of milk or water.
Add this mixture to 1 litre of boiling milk; keep boiling for 2 minutes while stirring.
Add sugar to taste.
