Enjoyed in Central and Latin America for centuries, panela (also referred to as rapadura) is obtained from the boiling and evaporation of sugarcane juice and still contains all the goodness that nature intended. Panela is thought to very beneficial effects in the treatment of colds, in the form of a hot drink with lemon called aguapanela, which moisturizes and reduces discomfort.
Panela has a delicious, smooth caramel taste. Ideal for everyday use, try panela in baking or stir a little into your morning coffee.
