Atole (pronounced ah-TOH-leh) is a traditional beverage in Mexican cuisine that dates back to the time of the Aztecs and Mayans. Made from corn and a hint of vanilla and cinnamon, atole is a delicious warming drink perfect for winter. Rich in vitamins and iron.
It is a popular breakfast dish and is also often served as an after dinner snack. A festive drink which is traditionally drunk during the celebrations of Dia de los Muertos.
Directions (makes more than 1 litre):
Dissolve contents of pack in 1 cup of milk or water.
Add this mixture to 1 litre of boiling milk; keep boiling for 2 minutes while stirring.
Add sugar to taste.
Ingredients. Corn Starch, Caramel Color, Cocoa Powder, Artificial Flavors, Vitamins and Minerals (Calcium Phosphate, Nicotinamide, Ferric Phosphate, Riboflavin, Thiamin and Vitamin A Palmitate), Iodized Salt, Silicon Dioxide, Artificial Color (Allura Red AC (FD&C Red 40) and Sulphur Dioxide.
