The Aztec calendar is the calendar system which was used by the Aztecs as well as other Pre-Columbian peoples of central Mexico. It is one of the Mesoamerican calendars, sharing the basic structure of calendars from throughout ancient Mesoamerica. In reality the famous circular calendar is a combination of three Mesoamerican calendars, the Tzolkin, the Haab, and a long count calendar. When combined together the Pre-Columbian peoples were able to keep track of days, seasons, and lunar cycles. Their spectacular accuracy and combined beauty is what we celebrate today.
