A traditional Chilean seasoning, Merken is a blend of spices mostly made up of Aji Cacho de Cabra (goat's horn chile) which is sun dried and then smoked before being ground.
With a mild heat and lovely smoky flavour, it is used as a general seasoning on most any food.
Originating from the cuisine of the Mapuches of the Araucanía Region of Chile, Merken is commonly used as a dry rub for meats and potatoes, a seasoning for vegetables and in ceviche.
Ingredients: goat horn chile (70%), salt, coriander, garlic.
